Kenai Peninsula Association of REALTORS® Benefits

Ø  By joining the Kenai Peninsula Association of REALTORS®, you automatically become a member of the Alaska Association of REALTORS® and the National Association of REALTORS®.  You have the opportunity to attend State and National Conventions, as well as participate in annual Leadership Conferences and State and National activities.

Ø  You will have the opportunity to attend General Membership Meetings and take advantage of networking opportunities with fellow members.  Listen to interesting guest speakers, committee reports, and welcome new members as they become installed.

Ø  You can attend the Annual General Meeting in August where you can participate in the election of the Board of Directors for the following year.  This meeting needs to have 40% of participation for bylaw compliance and all members are encouraged to attend to cast their vote to take part in the election process.

Ø  All members are invited to attend the annual Awards Banquet in December.  This is a fun and well attended event.  New Board Members are installed by our State President. The REALTOR® of the Year and the Affiliate of the Year are honored and recognized. The Association also participates in the local Toys for Tots program by bringing an unwrapped toy for a child. 

Ø  You can participate our annual Hospice Fundraiser  in May.

 Education Opportunity

Ø  Required and Continuing Education - Members have many opportunities to take part in Association sponsored classes to help them obtain their required continuing education credits.

Ø  Members can attend Code of Ethics® Courses offered throughout the year to stay informed of changes to remain compliant with the Code and limit your legal liability.

 Advertising / Publications

Ø  The Association emails a weekly newsletter to keep the membership informed  of upcoming meetings and events, legal issues and articles of interest to the  industry.  

Ø  Your name and office will be listed at www.kenaipeninsularealtors.org.

Ø  You will have access to www.REALTOR.org a website dedicated to keeping you informed on all real estate matters.

Ø  Your name will be included on the membership list that is made available to  REALTOR® members, Affiliates, community members, local Chambers,  e-mailed, or mailed on request to anyone needing assistance in their search for a  REALTOR®.

Ø  The Kenai Peninsula Association of REALTORS® remains a member in good standing  of both Kenai and Soldotna Chambers of Commerce, as well as the Kenai Builders Association, with our name and email and website listed on their membership lists.

Ø  Broadcast e-mails are sent to you on a regular basis, keeping you  informed of new information, events, and political concerns.

 Administrative Staff

Ø  The Association employs a Chief Executive Officer to address your questions and  needs. 

Ø  The Chief Executive Officer is the first person contacted by the public and reflects a good and professional attitude toward the Association; who is there to answer questions and promote a positive attitude toward the Association and real estate industry.

Ø  The Association office is your direct liaison with the State and National Associations.

Ø  The Association office is open from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., Tuesday to Friday.

Ø  The Association office also has supplies for you, if you need anything, please just call.

 Professional Standards

Ø  The Association office receives and responds to any complaints that may come against a member.  All calls and letters are handled discreetly and forwarded to the appropriate committee.

 Leadership Opportunities

Ø  Key Work Groups – think of the Key Work Groups as the backbone of the Association. By getting involved in this capacity you have the opportunity to become directly involved in the many issues affecting our industry, as well as participate in the planning stages of events, education classes and fundraising efforts. 

These are our Key Work Groups:

1.      Affiliate Liaison: Dawni Guigler, First American Title Agency- Liaison between all Affiliate members and Board, attends board and committee meetings.

2.      Association Operations Management: Marti Pepper, Redoubt Realty- Finance, Bylaws Review, Policy and Procedure Manual, Strategic Planning, Chief Executive Officer, and Awards

3.      Information Management: vacant- Oversees our Awards Banquet, Hospice Fundraiser, Habitat for Humanity and Gaming Committee and reports to the Board. Helps provide information for KPAR newsletters.

4.      Industry Issues: Glenda Feeken, RE/MAX of the Peninsula- Legislative, Issues Mobilization, RPAC, Grievance, Equal Opportunity, Standard Forms, and Professional Standards Enforcement.

5.      Professional Development: vacant - Professional Standards, Education,  State Meetings, Conventions, General Membership Meetings  and Real Estate Commission.

Ø  Committees – support the Key Work Groups and make recommendations to effect the association as a whole.  We encourage you to join a committee to understand how your association works.

Here are our current Committees:

1.      Finance Committee – under the Association Operations, working with the Treasurer, makes recommendation to the Board of Directors on how the budget is made and makes recommendations and future financial matters according to the direction of the Board.

2.      Hospice Fundraiser – under the Information Management, plans the years event offered in May. Coordinates all the activities to make the most of the donations!

3.      Habitat for Humanity – under the Information Management, keeps the association informed about the events and work day opportunity as well as has fundraisers when necessary.

4.      Gaming Committee – under the Information Management, makes decisions on where our donations from our Gaming Permit proceeds.

5.      RPAC Committee – under the Industry Issues, does fundraisers throughout the year and education about the importance of RPAC.

6.      Education Committee – under the Professional Development, brings Continuing Education Credits to the Association to ensure the 20 hours of Continuing education.

7.      General Membership Committee – under the Professional Development, brings informative speakers to the General Membership and keeps the Meeting well worth your time.

 

Ø  Board of Directors - New Directors are elected yearly at our Annual General Membership Meeting in August. Be a part of the decision making process.  Serving on the Board of  Directors is considered an honor and a work assignment as well.
The Association looks to the Board to provide a higher standard of conduct, loyalty, commitment, service and knowledge of the industry.
